How Falls Church came to be

  1. c. 1699

    Settlement began where Native American trails crossed.

  2. 1734

    The Falls Church parish was founded — the city is named for its church.

    Original DC boundary stones were set; two still stand in city parks.

  4. 1875

    Incorporated as a town within Fairfax County.

  5. 1948

    Became an independent city.
